Customs and documentation
Hungary is in the EU and Schengen. There is no customs declaration, no border stop and no duty. A CMR and a commercial invoice cover an intra-community supply, and the signed CMR is what supports your zero rating for VAT.
The only real administrative point on this lane is the Hungarian EKÁER electronic road cargo monitoring system, which applies to certain risk categories of goods. Where it applies, the registration has to be made before the vehicle crosses. We handle it as part of the file when the commodity falls within scope.

Can you really deliver to Budapest the same day?
From Oradea, yes, for a full load collected in the morning. It is roughly two hundred and fifty kilometres with no border stop. Debrecen is closer still. This is the one lane where a same day emergency delivery is genuinely routine rather than exceptional.
Is it worth sending a dedicated vehicle for two pallets?
On this lane, sometimes yes. The distance is short enough that a small dedicated van is not much more expensive than groupage, and it delivers the same day instead of in two. We price both when the volume is small and the deadline is tight.
What is EKÁER and does it apply to me?
It is the Hungarian electronic system for monitoring road cargo movements, and it applies to specified risk goods, mainly food and certain high risk commodities, above defined weight and value thresholds. If your goods are in scope we register the movement before departure. Most general cargo is outside the scope.
