Freight transport to Poland
Poland is closer than most people assume. Kraków and the Silesian industrial belt are a single driving day from western Romania, and Warsaw and Gdańsk are reachable in two.
The Romania to Poland corridor has grown quickly as manufacturing has spread across central Europe. Both countries host a large amount of automotive, appliance and furniture production, and components move between them constantly. The route runs through Hungary and Slovakia or the Czech Republic, all within Schengen, so the trip is uninterrupted.
Southern Poland is the volume centre. Kraków, Katowice and the Silesian industrial region can be reached within a single driving day, which makes just in time supply viable. Warsaw adds a few hours and the Baltic ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia are a two day run, which also makes them a credible alternative container gateway for northern European routings.

Customs and documentation
Poland is in the EU and Schengen, so there are no customs formalities or border stops for goods in free circulation. CMR and invoice are sufficient.
Poland also operates SENT, an electronic monitoring system for the road transport of certain sensitive goods including fuels, alcohol and tobacco. It rarely touches general cargo, but where it applies the registration must exist before the vehicle enters Polish territory, and we handle it as part of the booking.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a truck take from Romania to Poland?
From Oradea, southern Poland is a single driving day and Warsaw is one to two days. Gdańsk on the Baltic coast is two days. From Bucharest add roughly a day to each. Groupage typically runs two to four days depending on the region.
Can I use Gdańsk instead of Constanța for container imports?
Sometimes it makes sense. Gdańsk has direct Asian services and good onward connections, and for deliveries in northern Romania the inland leg is not much longer than from Constanța. We compare both when we quote an import, along with the Adriatic ports, rather than assuming one gateway.
Is rail a realistic option to Poland?
For regular, heavy volumes between fixed points, yes. Intermodal services on this corridor are reasonably developed and the cost per tonne can beat road for steady flows. For one off shipments and anything time sensitive, road remains the practical choice.
